As a third-generation, family-owned company with more than 70 years of history, our Board blends family heritage with professional expertise to guide the organisation’s long-term vision.
Our Directors bring extensive experience across construction, operations, finance, and corporate governance. Together, they are committed to upholding COWYN’s values of integrity, trust, and collaboration, while steering the business toward sustainable growth and innovation.
MARC COHEN
Managing Director
Appointed General Manager in 2009, Marc Cohen has since overseen the successful procurement and delivery of projects exceeding $750 million.
Now serving as Managing Director, he has led COWYN through a strategic restructure and rebrand, and expanded operations to the Central Coast with the establishment of the Charmhaven office.
Marc oversees the company’s financial strategy, compliance, and governance frameworks, ensuring COWYN remains strong, accountable, and positioned for sustainable growth.
SHAUN COHEN
Director - Project Manager
A Construction Management graduate, Shaun Cohen is an accomplished Project Manager with a strong track record in project delivery.
With extensive experience in design and construction projects, he has also served as Design Manager, coordinating consultants and managing the design process to ensure buildability and cost efficiency. Shaun specialises in programming, procurement, and seamless project execution, having successfully led some of COWYN’s most significant recent projects for key repeat clients.
ADAM JOHNSON
Director - Construction Manager
Adam Johnson commenced his career with COWYN as an apprentice and was recognised as the MBA NSW Apprentice of the Year in 2004. Rising through the ranks to Construction Manager, he now leads with a strong focus on quality assurance and workforce development.
Adam plays a key role in mentoring apprentices and junior staff into senior roles, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship across all projects.
KELL PORTASS
Director - Construction Manager
Kell Portass began his career with COWYN in 1997 as an apprentice, advancing through roles including Leading Hand, Site Foreman, and Site Manager before becoming Construction Manager.
He now oversees all projects across the Central Coast and Newcastle regions, recognised for his expertise in project delivery and ability to manage complex construction challenges and stakeholder demands in live environments.
BRAD RATTENBURY
Director - Project Manager
Since joining COWYN in 2009 as a Building graduate, Brad Rattenbury has become a highly effective Project Manager with a focus on procurement and process control.
Brad is highly experienced in design and construction projects, often acting as Design Manager to oversee consultant coordination, design documentation, and client approvals.
Brad combines his skills in procurement, subcontractor negotiation, and programme control with design management expertise, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standard.
ADVISORY PANEL
KEVIN COHEN
Kevin Cohen began his career as an apprentice carpenter under his father, Maurice, and now brings more than 40 years of construction experience. Known for his strong work ethic and deep technical expertise, he has earned industry-wide respect for his ability to solve complex construction challenges and provide practical guidance across all aspects of building.
In his advisory role, Kevin remains actively involved in the business, completing regular quality checks across all Greater Sydney projects to ensure COWYN’s high standards are consistently maintained.
PATRICK COHEN
Patrick Cohen commenced his career in 1977 as an apprentice under his father and company founder, H.M. Cohen. Having overseen COWYN’s major projects across the Central Coast and Newcastle regions for decades, he is recognised for delivering high-quality outcomes within demanding timeframes.
Patrick continues to play an active role in supporting the business, mentoring site teams to ensure projects consistently meet strict safety and quality standards.
MAURIE COHEN
Maurie Cohen entered the construction industry in 1981 and has delivered some of COWYN’s most significant projects. With responsibility for projects across Sydney’s southern and western regions, he is known for his adaptable approach and strong client relationships.
In his advisory capacity, Maurie continues to guide the business on client engagement and major project delivery, ensuring long-term partnerships and successful outcomes.
