The construction of the New Priory at Varroville has achieved the long held vision of the Discalced Fathers of developing a permanent spiritual home that provides the Friars a basis to progress their faith and practice the mission of serving the Church and mankind.
Built on a property that encompasses 136 hectares, the new priory is part of a comprehensive redevelopment of the present retreat facilities taking into account the relationship of the priory, retreat centre and remaining property. Encompassing the construction of a new Chapel, Library, Refractory, Common Room and Living Units the facility provides the Friars a homely environment to pray, study, interact and live.
Co-Wyn overcame a series of significant challenges to deliver an outstanding facility that is cherished by the Discalced Fathers, uses materials and finishes to blend in with the local environment; incorporates outstanding environmental and Green Star initiatives and enhances the site as a place to promote the development of faith.
