COWYN Building Group is proud to have completed the Design & Construct redevelopment of St Declan’s Catholic Primary School in Penshurst for Sydney Catholic Schools.
The project involved the design finalisation and construction of a new multi-level school and parish facility, together with associated refurbishment and integration works within the existing campus. As D&C contractor, COWYN was responsible for coordinating the design development, consultant team, authority approvals and construction through to commissioning and handover.
The new development provides a range of contemporary school and parish facilities across three levels. The Lower Ground Floor includes six General Learning Areas with shared flexible learning spaces. The Ground Floor incorporates a new school hall, administration and reception areas, offices, kiosk and amenities, together with parish reception and meeting facilities. The First Floor provides a staff room, meeting room, Principal’s room and Coordinators’ office for the school, alongside parish workspaces, offices, meeting rooms and social spaces. A new lift services both the school and parish areas, improving accessibility and connectivity throughout the development.
The works also included extensive infrastructure upgrades across the site, including fire services, electrical, sewer, stormwater and ICT, with new connections integrated back into the existing school and parish buildings. External works formed a significant part of the project, including landscaped and circulation areas, a new bridge link connecting to the existing school, and a covered outdoor learning area.
Delivered within an operational school and parish environment, the project required careful staging, detailed coordination and close engagement with stakeholders throughout construction.
The completed project is a strong example of collaborative Design & Construct delivery, providing high-quality new learning, administration, parish and community facilities that will support the St Declan’s school and parish communities for many years to come.
